The number of Federal Firearms Licenses has hit a 10-year low, dropping from 248,692 in 1993 to 198,848 in January, according to a recent report. This dramatic decline is expected to continue, according to Dick Welter of Basics Information Systems Inc., a Maryland-based company that is the sole public source of FFL data from the BATF.
