An estranged husband grabbed his wife round the throat and banged her head against the door several times during an argument.

James Hall (41) appeared before Spalding magistrates on Tuesday for sentencing having been convicted of assault by beating following a trial in June.

Hall, of Monks Meadow, Crowland, was given a two-year community order with a two-year supervision requirement and ordered to take part in the integrated domestic abuse programme.
