YORKSHIRE councils will benefit from [pounds sterling]500m of Government money being lent to local authorities to settle thousands of equal pay claims among their staff.
Hull, Leeds, Rotherham, Sheffield, Wakefield and York were among 46 local authorities in England facing the threat of legal action by trade unions on behalf of low-paid workers, mainly women, such as school dinner ladies and carers.
