Apple Day held lots of 'a-peel'.

STAMFORD'S Victorian heritage was celebrated at the town's Apple Day which featured sweet, sour, crunchy and mushy fruit among its varieties.

Now in its fourth year, the event, held at the town's Arts Centre on Saturday, encouraged visitors to show up with apples ready to be scrutinised by experts.

Organisers hope that rare varieties can be uncovered in the process, harking back to the Victorian age when it's thought Stamford had more than 40 different types of apples.
