SHEFFIELD is at the heart of an art explosion, named as one of the top 10 creative cities in the UK in a new survey.

Steel City comes ahead of supposed artistic powerhouses such as Oxford and Cambridge, and supposedly trendy cities like Newcastle, Nottingham and Bristol.

At ninth in the table, it's ahead of Cardiff, Norwich and Plymouth - but behind arch-rival Leeds.
