The Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) was the focus of considerable discussion by the Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations (FAIR) Steering Committee at its fall meeting in San Marcos, Texas.
GASB was founded in 1984 by the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) as a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that works to create and improve the rules state and local governments follow in financial accounting and public reporting.
