You are hiking over the dry plains of central Australia when you notice a strange plant. It looks like a small cactus with long, sharp spines. You lean over to take a closer look and ... it moves!
This is not a cactus or any other plant. It's an echidna (ee-KID-nuh). The echidna is a small mammal with spines. When it senses danger, the echidna curls into a ball so that its spines protect it.
