For some time now and with increasing intensity, many are questioning the relevance of Black Greek-letter organizations (BGLOs). This inquiry, though appropriate, is often framed as an "either/or" question. A better inquiry would be: "How relevant are BGLOs vis-a-vis how they used to be, or should be, or could be?" Answering this question, in part, requires at least an adequate understanding of how these organizations came to be and the vision of these groups' founders.
