China completes its side of WW II Road Achinta Borah
Kunming (China), Sept 30 (PTI) Seeking to enhance people-to-people contact, China has completed the renovation of its side of the Stilwell Road, which was constructed during the World War II connecting India through Myanmar.
The 1,726 km-long road -- from Ledo in Assam to Kunming in China -- was constructed under the leadership of American General Joseph Warren Stilwell to provide support to the Allied Forces fighting against the Japanese Army. It was later rechristened as Stilwell Road in his honour.
