Sep. 30--Former Common Council President George K. Arthur and Nobel laureate Herbert A. Hauptman will receive Red Jacket awards Oct. 11 at the annual dinner of the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society.
Arthur, who led the Common Council from 1984 to 1994, is president of the Michigan Street Historic Preservation Corp., set up in 1996 to preserve the African- American historic district.
