Macro 4's mainframe software business is growing fast, but the group is still being held back by its documents division Tim Bradshaw

The relative success of Macro 4's two divisions is counterintuitive. The mainframe hardware market is barely growing, yet Macro's mainframe software business, Systems Management (SMS), grew new licence sales by 18 per cent last year. Meanwhile, the Document Management (DMS) side saw new business fall by 27 per cent, despite environmental and regulatory drivers.
