MARITZBURG College, one of KwaZulu-Natal's most prestigious schools, was forced to de-badge its head prefect and another prefect after they hit junior boys in two separate incidents at the school last month.

College headmaster Ron Jury said it was brought to the notice of the deputy principal in charge of the boarding establishment of the school that the head prefect and another prefect had punished junior boys by hitting them on the backside.
