The organizers of the Venice Biennale have hired French curator Jean Clair to supervise the retrospective of works from the beginning of the 20th century. Clair's approach is to connect artistic representation to the modern view of the human body as it was influenced by early scientific discoveries and up to the latest digital imaging techniques. This approach addresses 20th-century movements in which the body has been distorted, abstracted and fantasized at the same time.
