DANBURY, Conn., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) (NYSE: UK) today elected UCC President William H. Joyce chief executive officer. Dr. Joyce succeeds Chairman Robert D. Kennedy, who in February announced his intention to retire at the end of the year. The board said it intends to elect Dr. Joyce chairman when Mr. Kennedy retires.

Dr. Joyce, 59, has been president and chief operating officer since 1993. He joined Union Carbide in 1957 as an engineer at the corporation's chemical facility in Bound Brook, N.J., and has ...
