Legislation stipulating that old-age pensions are payable to men only once they have reached 65 is being challenged in the Pretoria high court on the grounds that it is unconstitutional and outdated.
The court was told that pensions should be given to everyone who qualified for it at the age of 60, as it was not only women who were extremely poor.
