Abstract
This paper mainly deals with waxes which are naturally present in bitumens, and does not include synthetic waxes that sometimes are proposed as bitumen additives. The main objectives were to study the rheological effect of bitumen waxes and the impact of waxy bitumens on asphalt mixture performance, such as rutting, low temperature cracking, and water sensitivity. In the rheological characterisation of bitumens, a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) and bending beam r...

Cotton wax and its relationship with fiber and yarn properties: Part I: Wax content and fiber properties
Textile Research Journal
; ABSTRACT In this study, thirty-six cultivars of U.S. upland cotton are selected and their wax content determined by the Conrad method. Both ring spun and open-end yams are then made from these cottons. Various fiber and yam properties are measured before and after wax removal using its, HVI, the

Predicting the water-sensitivity of film-forming coatings additives by water vapor sorption: with application to thickeners and rheology modifiers.(Cover Story)
The Journal of Coatings Technology
; INTRODUCTION An important criteria for modern day coatings is that they have good water-resistance or low water-sensitivity. This is more challenging with coatings based on waterborne and latex binders, since some of the components used to prepare the binders and those added to the finished

Cotton wax and its relationship with fiber and yarn properties: Part II: Wax content and yarn properties
Textile Research Journal
; ABSTRACT Skeins of yarns spun from a wide range of cottons are dewaxed by Soxhlet extraction with ethanol. After drying, their mechanical properties are determined by single yarn tensile tests. Dewaxing produces a significant increase in yarn tenacity and a slight decrease in elongation at break.

Sunflower-Oil Wax Reduction by Seed Solvent Washing
JAOCS, Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society
; Abstract Wax distribution in sunflower seeds was determined by capillary-gas chromatography, as well as both the wax composition in sunflower oils obtained from washed seeds and the wax composition in the solvent extracts. The dehulling efficiency was evaluated by using a laboratory centrifugal
