CHARLTON - The boat ramp at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer's Buffumville Lake will be closed until at least next Wednesday.

Project Manager Timothy G. Russell said yesterday the swimming area at the federally run lake will be closed for the rest of the season. He said the lake ordinarily would have been closed to swimming beginning next week anyway.

Contact with the water has been prohibited for about a week because of the presence of a toxic algae bloom.
