Sep. 6--From millions of tiny grains of sand, something spiritual is taking shape in a local college building.

A group of Tibetan monks has spent this week creating a sand mandala in the Academic Complex at the Arizona Western College campus.

Since Tuesday, they have labored around a table, using funnels to arrange the sand, grain by grain, into a Chenrezig mandala: a representation of the Buddha of infinite compassion.
