Musical festival includes rarely performed film score.

Sep. 6--When American composer George Antheil performed the film score for Fernand Leger's short film "Ballet Mecanique" at Carnegie Hall in 1927, it was a disaster.

The score called for 16 synchronized player pianos, live pianists and such eclectic percussion instruments as whistles, sirens and propellers.

It was hard to coordinate, and the cacophony was hard to take.

"It was such a legendary failure at Carnegie Hall that it ruined (Antheil's) career," said Joseph Drew, co-director of the Omaha-based ARTSaha! festival.
