The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) welcomed last night the appointment of a new Papal Nuncio to the Philippines by Pope Benedict XVI.

Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams, the Holy See's ambassador to Zimbabwe, was named as the new Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, replacing Archbishop Fernando Filoni, who was appointed as Substitute for the General Affairs of the Secretariat State, the third most important position at the Holy See.

Adams, who was born in Philadelphia, USA on Aug. 24, 1944, was ordained as a priest in May, 1970 ...
