Union Point, GA, officials and merchants recently lifted a ban barring 21 Black males from entering some 35 downtown stores. The ban was put into effect in December.

The ban was lifted after almost 10 hours of negotiations, and after they (officials and merchants) recognized that the ban was unconstitutional: said H. Samuel Atkins Jr., an attorney for 12 of the Black males on the list.
