THIS IS the one time of year when freshwater marshes rival wildflower meadows for blooming beauty.
Drive along most country roads in low-lying Hampton Roads, and you'll see that most of the drainage ditches along the sides are dotted with colorful flowers of various aquatic plants. With still water, hot sun, katydids humming and dragonflies popping , freshwater marshes depict August in all its seasonal glory.
