Aug. 11--SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The air came out of the $500,000 Grade I Sword Dancer Invitational early Friday morning. The highly anticipated face-off between Better Talk Now and English Channel is off.

This was becoming to horse racing what Ali-Frazier was to boxing, Magic vs. Bird was to basketball, Yankees vs. Red Sox was to baseball.

OK, maybe not that severe but Better Talk Now vs. English Channel was certainly becoming a serious rivalry in horse racing. It won't happen Saturday because Better Talk Now is out with an ankle injury.
