A few weeks ago three local leaders of the Nkanini community in Rustenburg were gunned down and are still in hospital.
Though the suspect was arrested and is in custody the motives behind the shooting remain unclear.
With so much violence directed at community leaders, the ward councillors are also feeling very unsafe. No one can be sure of the motives, nor who the next victim may be. There are broad fears of reprisal killings.
