Mafikeng - The North West government intends to take 100 percent ownership of the R850 million Mafikeng biodiesel project should the private sector fail to contribute financially towards the project.

The project is expected to create more than 10 000 jobs in Mafikeng.

This follows a report on the province pushing to take a 49 percent stake in the blue ribbon project alongside a proposed 51 percent for the Barolong Bo-Rratshidi Development Company, an upliftment organisation, thereby excluding the private sector.
