Mercedes-Benz is supplying 140 new buses in a deal worth more than R100 million to help upgrade and modernise the public bus service in the greater Durban area.

The chassis for 94 of the new 65-seater buses will come from the Mercedes-Benz factory in East London, with the bodies being added at plants in Johannesburg before delivery to Remant Alton Land Transport, which operates the Durban bus service for the eThekwini Municipality.
