Of all the self-proclaimed national arts festivals, it is the one in Grahamstown - the oldest at 33 years - that usually offers the best visual arts line-up.
While it does not necessarily tally an overly large range of exciting exhibitions, it does try to reach wider in terms of media, talent and quality.
This year, at Grahamstown, that tradition continued. Not that anything shown broke through the staid ceiling of the uncontroversial.
