South Africa this week celebrates the legacy of one of this country's great leaders, Albert Mvimbi John Luthuli, who passed away 40 years ago. Luthuli, the first African to win a Nobel Peace Prize, was one of the greatest leaders of our time.

A number of activities have been organised countrywide to pay tribute to a leader who laid the foundation for the democracy that we enjoy today. Several projects to improve the lives of ordinary people have launched to preserve the legacy of Luthuli, who led the ANC through what was its most difficult and trying period.
