Jul. 25--Five people died Tuesday afternoon when a floatplane crashed near Rudyerd Bay, federal officials said.
The site of crash is in the mountainous terrain of Misty Fjords National Monument, about 40 miles east of Ketchikan.
Alaska State Troopers and rescue volunteers were at the heavily forested scene of the wreckage about 9 p.m. Tuesday beginning the investigation and the process of recovering the bodies.
