Jul. 12--THE MONSOON HAS ARRIVED -- perhaps for the last time.

No, this isn't another global-warming, endless-drought, we're-all-gonna-die scare story -- just a possible name change being contemplated by the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists are searching for a more descriptive term for our second summer -- the wet one that features sometimes-violent thunderstorms. On Monday, weather service meteorologist Tony Haffer of Phoenix suggested a switch from "monsoon" to "summer thunderstorm season" with a set range of dates, ...
