Jul. 2--An inventory of Columbia's natural resources should be online by the end of this year, giving city planners a new tool when determining how land should be used.

The database will include aerial photographs of Columbia's 190-square-mile metropolitan planning area that pinpoint natural resources.

The Surdex Corp. in Chesterfield finished taking those photographs last month and is now processing the infrared images, in which areas of chlorophyll and moisture show up in red.
