The Real Thing: Contemporary Art from China Tate Liverpool March 30 to June 10

A dimly lit factory, covered with a thick layer of brown dust and grease, the bulky machines eerily abandoned. Signs of panic, lunches left half eaten and protective clothing haphazardly thrown to the ground, are superseded by an uneasy stillness. It makes you shudder in contemplation of what has happened here and where all the workers have gone. This is the masterful life-size rendition of a part of a steel factory in Laoyang, by artist Zhuang Hui, the opening installation of 'The Real Thing: ...
