DUDLEY - For a brief period of time, Dudley folks turned back the clock and re-enacted the first town meeting which was June 20, 1732.

In 1731, a petition seeking a grant for township was presented to the state General Court, which issued a warrant calling for qualified voters to meet at the William Carter House on June 20, 1732, to vote for all necessary officers for organizing the town as required by bylaw.
