Rising young artists; "Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures." - Proverbs from Plymouth Pulpit, 1887 By Rev. Henry Ward Beecher.(At Issue)

THE Philippine art scene, kept alive by a growing economy despite political turmoil, continues to flourish, thanks in part to new, talented artists in their late 20s and early 30s.

One such artist is Alain Llaguno, 31, a Bicol-based painter who is currently having his first one-man show in Metro Manila. He had joined group exhibits in the past.

The show consists of nine large - and pigment-heavy - mixed media works that, in the words of one art critic "border between two-dimensional abstraction and the sculptural."
