AT and T plans to develop and launch three Telstar satellites, the first of which will offer services in July 1997. The company has submitted its intentions to the Federal Communications Commission and is searching for a manufacturer to build the three satellites. Telstar 5, 6 and 7 will use solar cell technology to boost radio frequency power. The locations and proposed schedules for all three satellites are included.
