NEW YORK--It's no mystery why alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) have revitalized the skin care category. Any substance that is said to slow down the skin's natural aging process is guaranteed to attract the interest of consumers, particularly the huge pool of aging baby boomers.

"The harsh reality of growing older has hit baby boomers with a thud," says Eckerd Corp. director of merchandising Carol Allman, "and they're going to fight the process with all they've got."
