Jun. 14--PORT ARTHUR -- Two Port of Port Arthur officials rushed to Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon to ward off a potential cut in business that could sink half the port's annual cargo load when the buyout of one of its longtime customers takes effect.
If U.S. Steel Corp. opts out of shipping products through the port, the change could wipe out about 30 percent of the port's annual business, send port officials scrambling to fill the gap and have economic ripple effects on the port's longshoremen.
