Maori women have not been actively involved in New Zealand's political development, which has rendered them powerless in the society. This powerlessness has extended to the fields of economic development and broadcasting. Thus, some proponents of the indigenous group have called for a renewal of political empowerment for Maori women to uphold their status in society.
