Soy ink's superior degradability.

The Agricultural Research Service has developed a new type of soybean ink containing less pigment and more soybean oil. The ink, which was developed in response to requests from the Newspaper Assn. of America and the American Soybean Assn., has no volatile organic compound and therefore allows printers to comply more fully with the Clean Air Act. The new ink is also cost-competitive and more degradable compared to commercial petroleum-based inks.
