University at Albany sophomore Joe Greene made 20 phone calls to friends and family on Saturday morning.

"Just to remind everybody, 'CBS at 1 o'clock,' " Greene said.

Then Greene, a Rochester native, gave them reason to watch.

He finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles finals at the NCAA Division I track and field championships in Sacramento, Calif. Greene finished in 49.92 seconds to break his own school record in a race televised on CBS-6.
