The German poet Paul Celan is widely considered to be one of the most important figures in postwar literature. Deeply influenced by his religious heritage, Celan wrote many poems celebrating Jewish concerns, ranging from community ritual to the horrors of the wartime holocaust. An analysis of his Jerusalem poems reveals the use of the principle of translation as reversion.
