Kjell Espmark, a professor of literature at Stockholm University, a member of the Swedish Academy, and a poet, has added a fourth title, Lojaliteten (Loyalty), to his series of novels he calls "subhuman comedies," wherein he sharply criticizes certain aspects of modern Sweden. The three earlier novels are Glomskan (Oblivion; 1987), Missforstandet (Misconception; 1989), and Foraktet (Contempt; 1991; see WLT66:4, p. 736).
