Jun. 7--Tony De Santis was a colorful, old-school entrepreneur and showman who dominated celebrity and theatrical entertainment in Chicago and its suburbs for more than half a century.

De Santis, 93, died Wednesday of natural causes in the glamorous, Italianate apartment he kept backstage at his Drury Lane Theatre complex in Oakbrook Terrace, said his grandson Kyle.

For at least two generations, if anyone saw an affordable performance by a Hollywood or Broadway star in Chicago or its suburbs, De Santis likely was the reason why. ...
