Whiting Petroleum Corp. Announces Commencement of CO2 Injection at Its North Ward Estes Field in the Permian Basin of Ward and Winker Cos., TX and Provides Update on its CO2 Project in the Postle Field of Texas Co., OK.

DENVER, May 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Whiting Petroleum Corporation today announced that on May 22, 2007 the Company initiated its CO2 flood in the North Ward Estes field, located in Ward and Winkler Counties, Texas. By the end of June 2007 Whiting expects to be injecting approximately 10 MMCF/D (million cubic feet per day) of CO2 into the field's producing reservoir, the Yates formation at a depth of approximately 2,600 feet. Whiting's target for CO2 injection into the field is 100 MMCF/D by the end of January 2008.
