Bells will peal, fireworks will bloom, bands will play and traffic will snarl as thousands of Catholics celebrate the centennial of the laying of the cornerstone at St. Paul Cathedral next weekend. Back in 1907, Archbishop John Ireland threw a similarly extravagant party. According to cathedral archivist Tom Flynn, it included the biggest parade in St. Paul history, with 30,000 marchers and 22 bands.
