Cloistered creativity. (the new Galician Center of Contemporary Arts in Santiago de Compostela, Spain)

The new Galician Center of Contemporary Art in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, was designed by architect Alvaro Siza. The new center is an adjunct to an old monastery owned by the San Domingos de Bonaval and which is now a Museum of the Galician People. The new architecture holds itself back with respect for the old structures, but is definitely a Modern work. With its elegant functionalism and innovative lighting the building deserves praise of the highest order.
