The Black Emerald seedless grape was developed by David W. Ramming at the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) facilities in Fresno, CA. The new grape variety is of top quality and is distinguished from other varieties by its ability to ripen in mid-May, a time when no other top-quality grape is available.
