George Benson set to open jazz festival.

May 18--Grammy-winning jazz guitarist and singer George Benson will perform May 31 in Oklahoma City in conjunction with the 21st annual Charlie Christian International Jazz Festival.

The performance, presented by Black Liberated Arts Center Inc., kicks off the jazz festival, which will continue June 6-10.

"We are excited to have a legend like George Benson opening our Centennial Festival," BLAC Inc. Executive Director Anita Arnold said.

"The fact that Charlie Christian was such an important influence in Mr. Benson's musical life makes it really special for us. ...
