Goliad school district adds cash to attract math, Spanish teachers: High school teachers in those subjects will receive signing bonus and stipend.

May 17--GOLIAD -- High school math and Spanish teachers can receive a $6,000 signing bonus and a $2,000 annual stipend if they sign a two-year contract with the Goliad Independent School District. The school board added the incentives for those positions in what superintendent Sam Atwood and district staff identified as "critical shortage" areas in the district.
"Whether we like it or not, it's a competitive field," the superintendent told the board. "Good math and Spanish teachers are hard to find. We need to do something. Money talks." ...
