Representative artists of the rococo period in European art history are featured along with their works. Among the many leading silversmiths during that time were French-Italian Juste Aurele Meissonnier and the Englishman Paul de Lamerie. Their use of silver illustrated the affinity of the material to an art style that focused on flowing forms and highly ornamented surfaces.
